Seminar Summary:
The seminar will offer two PDH credits for two one-hour presentations summarized below:
Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Rules & Regulations & Overview: This presentation delivers a streamlined introduction to Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), covering essential FAA regulations, airspace rules, and responsibilities for both recreational and commercial operators. It highlights the types of drones used in engineering, key mission applications such as inspections, photogrammetry, and LiDAR, and outlines what professionals should consider when hiring certified pilots.
Importance of Design Coordination in Engineering: The presentation emphasizes the critical role of design coordination in engineering and illustrates how effective collaboration among disciplines enhances safety, quality, cost efficiency, scheduling, and constructability. It opens with historical examples showing how early engineering failures shaped modern licensure requirements and ethical standards. The content defines engineering design, underscores the importance of teamwork, and highlights both intra‑ and inter‑disciplinary coordination, outlining the responsibilities of project managers, discipline leads, and design teams.
