AWARD NOMINATION FORM DUE BY APRIL 10th

The NYSSPE – Long Island Chapter would like to recognize individuals who have excelled in the engineering profession or contributed significantly toward the goals of the Society. The Nominating Committee requests your input in seeking nominations for the following awards which will be presented at an awards dinner to be scheduled the spring.


ENGINEER OF THE YEAR

To recognize a Professional Engineer who has made an outstanding contribution to the engineering profession and the goals of the Society of Professional Engineers by means of educational, collegiate and engineering achievements; service to NYSSPE as well as other professional or technical societies: civic and humanitarian activities; and has displayed continuing competence.

YOUNG ENGINEER OF THE YEAR

To recognize a Professional Engineer or Intern Engineer 35 years of age or younger in the year the award is to be presented, who has made an outstanding contribution to the engineering profession and the goals of the Society of Professional Engineers by means of educational, collegiate and engineering achievements, service to NYSSPE as well as other professional society, technical society, civic and humanitarian activities; and displayed continuing competence.

CITIZEN OF THE YEAR

To recognize an engineer or non-engineer who has made an outstanding contribution related to the goals of the engineering profession or to the Society of Professional Engineers.

CONTRIBUTION IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION AWARD

To recognize an individual whose activities or contribution in the field of education have broad and lasting effects on the goals of the engineering profession or the Society of Professional Engineers.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

(formerly the STEPHEN J. PIRRELLI, P.E. AWARD)
To recognize a Long Island Chapter member who, in addition to demonstrating professionalism and integrity, has made an outstanding contribution to the goals of the engineering profession and the Society of Professional Engineers over an extended period of time. (Excluded from this award is any individual holding a position on the Chapter Board.)

OUTSTANDING ENGINEERING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

To acknowledge accomplishments of the engineering profession by recognizing outstanding engineering achievements, in industry or design and construction, that have captured the innovative and dynamic spirit of a profession dedicated to public service. Nominations may include a specific engineered end product such as a building or dam, a significant process, a contribution toward solving an engineering problem such as environmental or traffic congestion, industrial research and development, or any worthy project that meets a human, environmental or social need for the public. All nominated projects must be completed in the last two calendar years preceding the year of nomination. The project, or the engineering firm designing the project, must be located in Suffolk or Nassau Counties.

  • Professional Engineer in Government
  • Professional Engineer in Education

Awarded in recognition of dedication to the improvement of the engineering profession through excellence in leadership and performance as a Professional Engineer serving his/her area of practice.
