Description Cavalry Engineering PC (CE) is a fast-growing Civil and Electrical engineering firm based in Suffolk County, NY. We are searching for a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer with 7 – 10 years of experience in the commercial and industrial construction industry to support our growing list of electrical engineering projects in the New York Metropolitan Area. We are looking for a seasoned Electrical Engineer with an in-depth knowledge of power system design and a solid foundation in electrical engineering. The perfect candidate will collaborate as part of a team to create construction documents and perform reviews to meet high-paced schedules. Candidates must have prior working experience on municipal and infrastructure projects. This role will include providing technical design services, Electrical Code implementation, mentoring of younger staff, and construction oversight under the direction of the lead electrical engineer. Candidate must have reliable transportation and be willing to drive throughout NYC Metro Area. Requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of Electrical Engineering, design, QA/QC and construction oversight. (7 to 10 years)
  • Comprehensive understanding of the NEC, building codes, and general construction practices
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or approved equal.
  • EIT, PE preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft, AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, and construction documents drafting practices.
  • Familiar with Civil 3D Software a plus.
  • Must have a NYS Driver’s License or nearby state.
Key Skills
  • Conduct load calculations to establish electrical requirements and power distribution equipment.
  • Prepare electrical design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects.
  • Proficiency in electrical equipment Projects will include the selection of transformers, switchgear, panelboards, substations, VFDs, and circuit breakers.
  • Proficient in electrical power and lighting software such as SKM Power Tools, Agi32, Etap, Generator Sizing software, etc.
  • Solid understanding of Electrical Engineering and general construction industry
  • Communicate clearly in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
Job Functions:
  • Manage junior engineers to prepare comprehensive engineering reports, drawings, and documentation for client projects.
  • Perform engineering design evaluations and lead project engineering design specific to electrical engineering.
  • Work on the engineering design and coordination of various projects, with an emphasis on water resources engineering projects.
  • Perform and oversee design calculations, drafting of construction drawings, and prepare technical specifications.
  • Perform and oversee wire sizing, conduit sizing, circuit sizing, voltage drop calculations, arc fault calculations, generator sizing, load calculations and other electrical calculations associated with design.
  • Lead meetings with other consultants and contractors and responsibly represent CE and the electrical engineering team.
  • Construction oversight and field inspections for quality control assurance process.
  • Collaborate with marketing staff to prepare marketing materials including proposal generation.
  • Review accuracy and completeness of work prepared by junior electrical staff.
  • Effective communicator to plan and execute design work with multiple technical disciplines.
  • Coordinate the reparation of high-quality construction documents and specifications on time and budget.

Stony Brook University is seeking an Electrical Engineer to work in the department of Campus Planning, Design and Construction (CPDC).  CPDC is responsible for;
  • Design and construction for all capital and locally funded projects.
  • Providing design services to the campus community.
  • Coordination and integration of construction and rehabilitation projects.
  • Oversight of projects to ensure conformance with bid documents and design drawings.
  • Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with building codes and SBU standards and directives.
  • Provide information and technical support to other departments about current and future projects.
Required Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Electrical Engineering or within another closely related discipline.
