December 1, 2025NYSSPE LI Chapter – November Seminar
Date: Thursday November 20, 2025 at 6pm.
The NYSSPE LI Chapter would like to continue offering the monthly PDH Seminars. On Thursday November 20, MR. Jon Gifford, PE will be providing an in-person seminar to discuss: Maximizing Condensing Boiler Performancen and Air to Water Pump Heat Pump Theory and Application. This is a great chance to reconnect with like-minded engineers and learn traditional and new technology associated with boiler and heat pump systyems.

Seminar Summary:
The seminar will offer two PDH credits for two independent presentations summarized below:
Maximizing Condensing Boiler Performance
This presentation will explore maximizing the delivered efficiency of gas fired condensing boilers. Return water temperature plays a major part in this. The following topics will be discussed: Heat make-up of natural gas combustion and how it relates to condensing boilers and how this affects the delivered performance, How the return water temperature of the system affects the performance of a condensing boiler, and when approaching boiler control how outdoor reset can drive efficiency. In lowering return water temperature, how differential temperature, design temperature and piping arrangements affect overall performance.
Air to Water Pump Heat Pump Theory and Application
As the hydronic heating industry moves into the electric market, heat pumps are becoming part of our system. For those of use that are used to burning fuel to provide heat, the question becomes how the heat pump is providing energy into the system. How much energy can we expect? What are the basic designs of a heat pump? How does a heat pump integrate into a hydronic system? These are the questions that will be answered during this presentation.
When: November 20 (Thursday) 6-8:30PM
Where: Hauppauge Palace Diner, 525 Smithtown Bypass, Hauppauge, NY 11788
Who: Seminar is open to NYSSPE members and non-members
Cost: $50 members/$70 non-members
We look forward to seeing everyone at the event. Please register early to make sure you do not miss out on this great opportunity and chance to get 2 PDH credits!
